Beginner basics
Where to go
Campeche is a powerful, exposed beach break — the main peak isn't beginner-friendly even on small days. On the smallest mornings, the far-south end (away from the main peak) sometimes offers a gentler reform.
What to avoid
Stay off the main central peak entirely. Strong rips form between sandbars; the shorebreak gets heavy fast on any size. If you can't see a clean shoulder to surf, it's a paddle day.
Best beginner conditions
Wait for a tiny day (knee-high S swell, sub-3 ft), light N or NW wind, mid tide. For learning in Floripa, Barra da Lagoa is the better choice.
