Beginner basics

Where to go

Sebastian's main lineup (First Peak) is one of the most localized spots in Florida — not a beginner zone. Walk south down the open beach inside the state park and find an empty sandbar.

What to avoid

Stay completely off First Peak and out of the inlet itself. The current at the jetty will pull you straight into the channel; the lineup is full of pros and territorial regulars.

Best beginner conditions

On the open beach south of the inlet: waist-high NE swell, light W or NW wind, mid tide. For a true first session, drive 30 min north to a quieter beach access.
