Outside daylight — wait for sunrise to surf
Current: 6.3 ft @ 8s • 24 mph wind. wave height is okay but not doing the heavy lifting period has some energy but isn't classic groundswell strong wind is adding a lot of bump and texture wind direction is fighting the banks and shape
Wind-blown and soft — 6.3 ft with side-on winds chopping it up. Tide shift to low around 5:39 AM could change the picture.

Beginner basics
Where to go
The main town beach (Praia do Centro) on a small day has soft, manageable peaks for first sessions. Praia do Amor's left point on a small day is friendlier than it looks because the wave is slow.
What to avoid
On bigger swells the closeouts at the main beach are heavy. Stay off Cacimbinha's rip channels and don't surf alone if the beach is empty — the cliffs make rescues hard.
Best beginner conditions
Waist-high E or SE swell, 8-10s period, light W or SW wind (early morning offshore is classic), mid tide. Year-round warm water — no wetsuit needed.
